Curtiss-Wright Congratulates Pilatus Aircraft on EASA and FAA Type Certification for Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet

Tuesday 12 December 2017

GILBERT, Ariz. – December 12, 2017 – Curtiss-Wright’s Sensors & Controls (S&C) division offers its congratulations to Pilatus Aircraft Group Ltd on achieving European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type Certification for the Pilatus PC-24 aircraft. Curtiss-Wright's Sensors & Controls division is under contract with Pilatus Aircraft Ltd to design, develop, and produce the very first distributed Rotary Electromechanical (EM) Spoiler and Flap Actuation Systems used on a jet aircraft. Curtiss-Wright also produces the Hydraulic Power Pack used for the aircraft anti-skid brake system.

“Curtiss-Wright would like to offer our congratulations to Pilatus on this significant milestone. The Pilatus PC-24 defines a new standard for jet aircraft with its innovative approach and design,” said Graham Macdonald, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Sensors & Controls division.

The Electromechanical Spoiler and Flap Actuation Systems on the PC-24 consist of electromechanical actuators and power and control electronics used to position the spoilers and flaps in response to pilot and flight control computer input. The choice to utilize Curtiss-Wright’s electromechanical actuation technology supports the PC-24’s mission to operate from short-field and unpaved runways all while reducing owners’ operating cost and eliminating scheduled maintenance on the spoiler and flap system.

Curtiss-Wright is currently delivering production units for the Spoiler and Flap Actuation Systems from our Actuation business unit located in Gastonia and Shelby, N.C. Manufacturing and delivery for the Hydraulic Power Pack is being performed at Curtiss-Wright's Sensors business unit location in Gilbert, Ariz.
